Internet for Peace?
What do you give a medium that has it all? How about recognition – in the shape of the Nobel Prize for Peace. That’s the thinking behind I4P. It’s a unique and extraordinary project celebrating a unique and extraordinary medium: the Internet. So we devised a unique and extraordinary YouTube page to mobilize global support for the project and generate the momentum necessary to actually win the prize. Visitors were invited to upload their films telling the world why they thought the Internet was worthy of this honour.
Naturally, some thought I4P a controversial project. And they let us know it! Which in a funny kind of way proves the whole point of the concept. Artistic creation and vigorous debate across different cultures and languages. And not a real punch thrown. If that’s not worthy of an award, then what is? Peace.
