Taking the economic temperature
In a recession knowledge isn't power. It's survival. The Google Barometer is an innovative and unique YouTube channel gadget designed to help UK businesses weather the financial downturn.
The Google Barometer works by collating different strands of Google search data and plotting rates of change in the growth of different keyword groups. In this way, it sheds some much need economic enlightenment on UK businesses.
Technically it's far removed from Google Trends and other similar tools. Instead Google Barometer analyses search patterns across hundreds of terms linked to rising or falling economic confidence. It also pulls in other metrics like RPI, CPI, Interest rates, GDP and unemployment rates. Then it plots the results as engagingly as possible using our bespoke visualisation interface, built as a compact iGoogle gadget and also a larger YouTube channel gadget.
We also built a version for the Netherlands, and one for the US - each with their own unique 3rd party data sources and keyword groups.
