Genuine action movies
The UN's 8 Millennium Development goals deal with the most pressing needs on the planet. Everything from ending poverty and hunger to combating HIV/AIDS. But there are only five years left to achieve these aims.
Film 8 is an initiative from Google France. It aims to highlight the goals using the short films of some of the world's best and most original film-makers. People like Gus Van Sant and Jane Campion. It was our job to make sure people got to see their work.
We created a dedicated channel gadget that enabled all 8 films to be shown as a series. There were three language versions. And most importantly, links to the NGOs associated with the goals. So viewers could support them in a direct and immediate way. Film 8's motto is: See. React. Act. This is real 'feel good' cinema.
