When it comes to profit margins, cross sales are where it's at. Carphone Warehouse had an online accessories shop but wanted to work it harder. In fact, it was lagging behind its instore and direct offline channels.
Our job was to increase sales. But specifically to improve cross sales from customers who had purchased in other areas of the Carphone Warehouse site. We also had to make sure it could be efficiently and dynamically maintained by Carphone Warehouse staff. We began by stripping everything back and installing a new content management system. Using AJAX we carefully integrated accessory cross sales into the path to purchase. This way the customer's journey from core product selection to clicking BUY NOW is enhanced, not delayed, by the accessory choices that are placed in their path.
So far the new site is showing a 57% increase in margin. Proving that presenting complexity, simply, really is the key to profitability.
