Advent a new gadget for Xmas
Christmas is expensive. So the Daily Mirror wanted to give its readers a free advent calendar. A virtual one that would sit on their iGoogle homepage. It was to be fun. Free. And full of festive information.
We devised a clever gadget that had an in-built calendar. So if you activated it on the 5th of December, you had five days worth of windows waiting to open. Behind each window was a little Christmas fact. But unlike real advent calendars you couldn't charge ahead and digest all the contents at once. You could say it was an exercise in patience as well as thrift.
