Not all violence at the movies is fake
The Venice Film Festival epitomises all the glamour and romance of the movies. It's a million miles away from the sordid baseness of violence against women. Which is why our work for YouTube's Action for Women channel was especially impactful. And so necessary. The channel was commissioned by YouTube to feature the work of amateur directors on the subject.
We designed & built a gadget that made uploading and viewing the films easy. Viewers could then vote for their favourite films from among the hundreds submitted.
The gadget also contained a survey to glean viewers' attitudes towards violence against women. All this was conducted in both Italian and English. There were over 8 million viewings.
The top ten films, as chosen by the audience were then judged by a panel of eminent directors. We're proud to have been able to facilitate this event. Some films really are more important than others.
